On Wednesday afternoon, the City of College Station will begin work on the final section of rehabilitating William D. Fitch Parkway from Williams Creek Drive to Rock Prairie Road. Alternating one-way traffic will shift to continuous two-way traffic, which will also be maintained for access to and from Williams Creek Drive at the entrance to the Williams Creek Subdivision. The project is expected to be completed by mid-December.
Phase 2 of the Marion Push roadway construction project (Callaway Villas to Stadium View) is scheduled to open to traffic by the end of Friday. The City’s contractor will begin demolition early next week to start Phase 3A, which includes the southbound lane from Stadium View to just south of Luther Street. Construction for this phase is anticipated to last about eight weeks.
Beginning Thursday, northbound Dartmouth Street will be closed at Krenek Tap Road for two weeks for rehabilitation work. Northbound traffic will detour east onto Krenek Tap toward SH6. Southbound Dartmouth will remain open with one lane of thru traffic.
Holleman Drive will be closed for street repairs and repaving from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday from Texas Avenue to just past Village Drive. Holleman entrances to H-E-B will be closed, but the store will be accessible from Texas Avenue and Park Place. Holleman driveways for Target and Chase Bank will also be closed, so visitors must enter and exit directly off Texas.
Hondo Drive will be closed at Nueces Drive on Monday and Tuesday as crews replace a stormwater pipe. The intersection will be opened in time for the start of school on Wednesday morning.
Significant traffic changes take effect Monday on Marion Pugh Drive as road construction enters its next phase, bringing a mix of new full closures and reopened sections. Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes, expect delays, and exercise caution around construction crews and posted detour signs throughout the summer.
Krenek Tap Road will be fully closed for most of Thursday between Dartmouth Street and Central Park Lane while contractors install a sewer line. Eastbound traffic should use Dartmouth to access SH 6. The road is expected to reopen by the end of the day. Starting Thursday, Central Park Lane will experience lane closures through Monday, June 22.
Welsh Avenue is closed from Harvey Mitchell Parkway to Nueces Drive through early August for the construction of crosswalks at A&M Consolidated High School. Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes.
From Monday through Wednesday, Longmire Drive will have scheduled lane closures and detours between Barron Road and Lakeshore Circle from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. for pavement repairs. Flaggers will direct traffic on Monday, followed by single-lane closures on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Union Pacific Railroad crews will close the George Bush Drive crossing near Wellborn Road for maintenance work from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday. Detours will be in place. NCAA Regional baseball fans heading to Blue Bell Park for the scheduled afternoon game should use alternate routes, such as John Kimbrough Boulevard or Old Main Drive.
