Starting Monday, Marion Pugh will be fully closed from the Stadium View southern exit to south of Luther Street for about two weeks as crews install water, wastewater and storm crossings. Luther Street will remain closed throughout Phase 3A of the project, which is estimated to last 10-12 weeks. The entire Marion Pugh Rehabilitation Project is expected to be completed by early January.

On Wednesday, the outside southbound lane of Texas Avenue from Hensel Street to University Drive will be closed from 5 a.m.-7 p.m. as crews repair a water line. Hensel will be fully closed from Texas Avenue to Meadowlands Street. One southbound lane on Texas Avenue will remain open to traffic throughout the repair work, scheduled from 5 a.m.-7 p.m.

Extreme heat index values are expected to reach dangerous levels across the Brazos Valley this week. To help residents escape the excessive heat, the City of College Station's air-conditioned municipal facilities are open to the public during normal business hours. Residents whose home air conditioning is struggling or who need a temporary break from the outdoors are encouraged to use these public spaces.

Nearly 3,000 people lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on New York City, the Pentagon and aboard United Airlines Flight 93. Among them were hundreds of firefighters, law enforcement officers and other first responders who answered the call to help others, even as extraordinary danger unfolded around them.

The City of College Station invites the community to the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for Fire Station No. 7 on Friday from 10 a.m.-noon at 2981 Greens Prairie Road. Station tours begin at 10 a.m., and the ceremony starts at 11. Voters approved the station in the 2022 bond election with an $18 million budget. The 18,200-square-foot facility will house 24 firefighters.

On Wednesday afternoon, the City of College Station will begin work on the final section of rehabilitating William D. Fitch Parkway from Williams Creek Drive to Rock Prairie Road. Alternating one-way traffic will shift to continuous two-way traffic, which will also be maintained for access to and from Williams Creek Drive at the entrance to the Williams Creek Subdivision. The project is expected to be completed by mid-December.

Most City of College Station offices and facilities will be closed Monday for Labor Day. Solid waste and recycling collections will run on the normal schedule, and Adamson Lagoon will be open from noon-6 p.m. Closed facilities include the Larry Ringer Library, Lincoln Recreation Center, Gary Halter Nature Center, Southwood Community Center, Meyer Senior and Community Center, and College Station City Hall.

Phase 2 of the Marion Push roadway construction project (Callaway Villas to Stadium View) is scheduled to open to traffic by the end of Friday. The City’s contractor will begin demolition early next week to start Phase 3A, which includes the southbound lane from Stadium View to just south of Luther Street. Construction for this phase is anticipated to last about eight weeks.

College Station City Council provided direction to finalize two separate purchase and economic development agreements that will bring a 14-acre Bass Pro Shops, along with an additional 14-acre mixed-use development by Dallas-based Corinth Properties to one of the city's fastest-growing corridors.

Beginning Thursday, northbound Dartmouth Street will be closed at Krenek Tap Road for two weeks for rehabilitation work. Northbound traffic will detour east onto Krenek Tap toward SH6. Southbound Dartmouth will remain open with one lane of thru traffic.
