Energy Back Rebates for High-Efficiency AC Systems

Rebates only apply for replacements in existing homes. To qualify, the A/C system must be 16 SEER or higher and must be sized more than 12,000 BTU’s (1 ton) for every 500 square feet of conditioned space. Any variance in sizing must be first be approved by College Station Utilities before installation. Both the evaporator coil (inside unit) and the condensing unit (outside unit) must be replaced as a matching system as rated by in the Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) directory. The AHRI reference number must be noted on the application. After installation of your new A/C system, please follow up with the installer to schedule a final installation inspection with a City of College Station  Building Inspector through the Planning & Development Services Office. The inspector will inspect the installation for code compliance and verify equipment replacement. After verification, the rebate will be mailed directly to you within three to four weeks from College Station Utilities.
