Backup Power Installations
Effective September 1, 2025, third-party plan review and inspections may be performed for home back up power installations per Texas Senate Bill 1202. This applies to one- or two-family dwellings connected to electrical systems of 600 volts or less for home back up power installations, such as generators, energy storage systems, and solar installations.
- Apply for an Energy Storage System / Generator permit through the eTRAKiT online system, or call Planning & Development Services at 979.764.3570.
- Fees generated based on the adopted fee schedule.
- Provide a complete set of construction documents, including a roof plan, construction details, equipment information, calculations, and system electrical drawings, along with a sealed letter from an Engineer on the structural integrity of the roof.
- Third-Party Review: For reviews completed by a third-party, include the Third-Party Review Certification and any development documents.
- Third-Party Inspection: If inspections are conducted by a third-party, email the completed Third-Party Inspection Certification and any inspection reports to cspds@cstx.gov. Inspections to establish or reconnect electrical services will be conducted by the City of College Station. A temporary power letter is required with any temporary final inspection.
