The Citizens Fire Academy 2024 application period is now closed.
Citizens Fire Academy is a free program that focuses on the day-to-day operations of the College Station Fire Department. The academy is offered each spring and meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:30–9:30 p.m., plus a Saturday session that features a live fire exercise. Participants must be at least 18 years old AND live or work in the Brazos Valley.

The Alumni Association was formed in 2001. The Association Board is composed of four Board of Directors including a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The purpose of the Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association (CFAAA) of College Station is to bring together graduates of the College Station Citizens Fire Academy, to improve relations between the fire department and the civilian community in all phases of fire department activities, and to further the aims and objectives of the College Station Fire Department. The mission of the CFAAA shall be to foster a better understanding and promote an enhanced relationship between the College Station Fire Department and the Community; and to promote quality education to the citizens of our city through training in the purpose, the functions, and the operations of the College Station Fire Department.
The Community Action Response Team (CART) is staffed by Citizens Fire Academy Alumni. These volunteers help residents who have experienced a fire or other emergency. They provide ongoing assistance such as recovery information, shelter, clothes, or any other needed items or services during and after the incident. CART also locates and coordinates support from community organizations and works closely with the Red Cross and Texas A&M's Critical Incident Response Team. CART's mission is to provide customer service and emotional support to residents who are dealing with stressful situations following a fire or other emergency that requires a resident to evacuate his or her home.
