Groundbreaking for City's seventh fire station set for Tuesday on Greens Prairie Road
Posted on 04/28/2025
The official groundbreaking ceremony for the City of College Station’s seventh fire station is Tuesday at 10 a.m. at 2981 Greens Prairie Road. Mayor John Nichols and Fire Chief Richard Mann will be the speakers.

Fire Station No. 7 was approved by 68.6% of voters in the 2022 bond election. The 18,200-sq. ft. facility is expected to open in the fall of 2026 and will be staffed by 24 firefighters. Features include four drive-thru bays, 12 dorm rooms and three officer quarters, a full kitchen and dining area, fitness and training rooms, and a community use room.

At last Thursday’s meeting, the City Council approved a contract amendment with Lott Brothers Construction for a guaranteed maximum price of $12.4 million for building construction, utilities, and paving work. The City’s contingency of $1.1 million provides a total appropriation of $13.5 million, which is under budget.

Martinez Architects designed the station.
