FIRE MARSHAL'S OFFICE
The Fire Marshal Office performs pre-construction site reviews and inspections, fire alarm and sprinkler systems plan review, inspection and testing, fire safety inspections for commercial occupancies (as well as daycare centers, foster homes, and health care facilities), and fire cause determination. Criteria for all reviews and inspections are based upon the currently adopted fire code and the Unified Development Ordinance.
BURN PERMIT/OUTDOOR BURNING
In an effort to reduce risk and maintain overall health for College Station residents and guests, outdoor burning is generally not permitted within the College Station city limits. If you have additional questions regarding outdoor burning, there is more information available with the outdoor burning guideline. Under certain circumstances and specific conditions, the Fire Marshal's Office may issue a burn permit that allows citizens to conduct open burning within the city limits.
FIRE MARSHAL'S OFFICE SERVICE FEES
Service fees are approved annually by the College Station City Council.
KNOX BOXES
What They Are:
Knox boxes are a secure key system to which only the fire department has access. They allow the fire department access to your building during emergencies that minimize the amount of damage caused by forced entry.
Where Required:
A Knox Box shall be provided on each commercial building. Building representatives can discuss the placement of the Knox Box with a representative of the Fire Marshal's office. Knox Box products may be ordered from the Knox Box website. The website only shows approved products for use in the City of College Station.
Where Suggested:
Although not required, the College Station Fire Department highly encourages the use of residential Knox Boxes for single-family dwellings. Residential Knox Boxes may also be purchased on the Knox Box website.
