The Lincoln Recreation Center offers a wide variety of amenities and services aimed at improving the quality of life of College Station residents. Residents can take advantage of services in the areas of youth programming, senior services, special events, and community outreach. The facility includes two gymnasiums, game room, fitness room, multipurpose rooms, splash pad, and a 13,000 square foot covered pavilion. 

HISTORY

Originally constructed as the A&M Consolidated Negro School, the Lincoln Center is located at 1000 Eleanor in W.A. Tarrow Park. The facility has been used at one time or another as a neighborhood center, recreation center, senior citizen's center, maintenance shop, and was formerly the headquarters for the College Station Parks and Recreation Department. The center now provides a variety of recreational and social services to the citizens of College Station.

    Guided by well-trained staff, kids ages 6-15 engage in games, sports, arts, and crafts -- and have time for homework. Transportation is provided from South Knoll, College Hills, Rock Prairie, Southwood Valley, River Bend, Oakwood Intermediate, Cypress Grove Intermediate, A&M Consolidated Middle School, and International Leadership of Texas for those who have paid the appropriate semester fee and signed a waiver.     OKINAWAN KARATE • REGISTRATION THROUGH FIRST CLASS DAY
    Martial arts develop discipline, self-defense skills, and proper judgment about when to use those skills. The non-contact training program emphasizes the traditions of Karate-Do (the way of karate). Instructor Chiyo Spaulding is a former AAU national champion who has taught children martial arts for 20 years, producing several nationally-ranked competitors. Caregivers are welcome to enroll with children. We won't have class on Jan. 16.

    BOOK DISCUSSION: "STRENGTH TO LOVE" BY DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.
    Join us for an informal book discussion and study of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s book, Strength to Love. The book was published in 1963 as a collection of his sermons, primarily about racial segregation with a heavy emphasis on religious values. The discussion is led by Rev. Dr. Dan De Leon, Senior Pastor of Friends Congregational Church, United Church of Christ in College Station. Admission is free, and the publication will be available for purchase.

    We hosts various events throughout February to celebrate African American History Month.

    CREATIVE EXPRESSION THROUGH ART: MASQUERADE PAINT PARTY • REGISTRATION: DEC. 5-JAN. 30
    Grab your friends for an African masquerade paint party. Create your masterpiece on a pre-drawn canvas as you mingle with peers. Prior painting experience is not required, and participants receive a canvas, paint, brushes, an easel, and a disposable apron. Light refreshments will be served.

    COMMUNITY CONVERSATION & PANEL DISCUSSION: "SEARCHING FOR BIRDIE" BY DONNA DAVIS LEWIS 
    Meet, greet, and have meaningful conversations with author Donna Davis Lewis as she discusses her book Searching for Birdie. An estimated 64,000 black women are missing in the United States; this is the story of one. The book addresses colorism, sexism, racism, LGBTQ prejudice, and the joys and limitations of true love while telling the story of a daughter's journey to the truth. Following the discussion, a panel of social and community leaders addresses challenges in the Brazos Valley. The event is in partnership with the Brazos Valley Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Reservations can be made by calling 979.764.3779 or by visiting the Lincoln Recreation Center, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Cash, credit card or check accepted. Checks should be made payable to “City of College Station.” 

    PAVILION RENTALS
    Pavilions are rented per day. Reservations are all-day and on a first-come, first-served basis. Fees must be paid in full at the time of reservation. Deposits will be refunded if facilities are left clean and free of damage. Reservations canceled within seven days prior to the rental date will incur a $20 cancellation fee. Pavilions may be used if they are not rented, but no access will be allowed to kitchens or restrooms.

    PAVILION RENTAL DEADLINES
    Monday-Thursday rentals must be made no later than 12 p.m. one business day prior to the desired reservation date. Friday-Sunday rentals must be made no later than 3 p.m. on the Thursday prior to the desired reservation date.

    DEPOSITS
    A security deposit is required for rentals. Portions or all of the deposit will be forfeited if damage, extra maintenance, or extraordinary cleanup occurs as a result of rental. Deposits will be refunded on the following conditions: (1) terms of your rental have been met, (2) facilities are left in good condition, or (3) cancellation procedures have been followed.

    CANCELLATION & REFUNDS
    Cancellation refunds more than 10 days: If the rental is cancelled, in writing, at least ten (10) days in advance of the originally scheduled date, a full refund of fees and deposits, including security deposit, will be returned to customer.
     
    Cancellation refunds less than 10 days: If the rental is cancelled, in writing, less than ten (10) days but more than 48 hours in advance of the originally scheduled date, deposits, including security deposits, will be forfeited by the customer in favor of the City.
     
    Cancellation refunds less than 48 hours: If the rental is cancelled, in writing, less than 48 hours in advance of the originally scheduled date, all fees and deposits, including security deposits, will be forfeited by the customer in favor of the City.
     
    Cancellation due to inclement weather: At the sole discretion of the City, if the event cannot be held or rescheduled due to inclement weather, fees and deposits, including security deposit shall be refunded to customer.
     
    Deposit refund post event: If the facility is left to standard and required keys (if applicable) are returned within 24 hours, the customer's deposit will be refunded. 

    All refunds are processed within 30 days of request by check. No cash refunds will be issued.
