Francis Drive Rehabilitation Project

Last item for navigation

Francis Drive serves as an important connector in the Eastgate neighborhood. As part of the City of College Station's commitment to serve existing neighborhoods like Eastgate, the Capital Improvement Citizen Advisory Committee has identified the reconstruction of Francis Drive as a priority project.

The city will be reconstructing Francis Drive from Walton Drive to Shady Drive. The project will reconstruct the street as a concrete roadway with bike lanes west of Munson Avenue. An improved sidewalk will be constructed along the south side of the roadway. Storm drainage, water, and sanitary sewer improvements will also be made along the corridor.

Construction is anticipated to extend from June 2020 to August 2021. The first phase of construction will begin at Walton Drive near College Hills Elementary School. Traffic will be restricted to one way in the construction zone.

Starting March 8, Francis Drive traffic will be one-way eastbound from Munson Avenue to Shady Drive through the end of the year while the road is rehabilitated. The Walton to Munson section is complete and will return to two-way traffic.
