Saturday, April 27 - Uncle Lucius with guest Tyler Halverson

    Saturday, April 27

Uncle Lucius with guest Tyler Halverson

Uncle Lucius originally stepped away from the spotlight in March 2018, capping off a whirlwind decade that saw the band releasing four critically acclaimed albums, wearing out five vans, and performing everywhere from New Braunfels to Norway. The guys were some of Austin's most celebrated exports, supported by a cult following that rallied around signature songs like "Keep the Wolves Away" and "The light.” During the years that followed Uncle Lucius' so-called farewell tour, the band's audience increased rapidly, bringing new generations of fans into the fold. "Keep the Wolves Away" even showed up in an episode of Yellowstone and went viral, earning gold and platinum certifications along the way. As Uncle Lucius' legacy grew, so did the desire to get back together. After a five-year hiatus, Uncle Lucius made their triumphant return to the Texas roots music scene with their 2023 release of Like it’s The Last One Left – described as “a cathartic comeback album that reunites the platinum-selling group and pumps new blood into its roster.” (Courtesy of Nine Mile Touring)

These days, everybody wants to play cowboy. But Tyler Halverson doesn’t have to pretend — the South Dakota singer-songwriter has cowboy running in his blood. He worked his family feedlot and showed cattle all across the country at stocks shows and fairs. But Tyler always had the most fun at the rodeo and found a way to get in on the action, without breaking any bones. Informed by his own experiences, he wrote plainspoken yet clever songs about the action that happens outside of the rodeo arena and started playing them on the circuit for the cowboy and cowgirls competing for the buckles. Tyler’s songs are honest country music, but they’re not throwback or steadfastly traditional. (Courtesy of Tyler Halverson)
