The Field Operations Bureau is the largest bureau within the College Station Police Department, encompassing several different units and assignments. These include Uniformed Patrol, Police Assistants, Traffic Enforcement Unit (motorcycles), and the College Station Tourism and Entertainment Policing (CSTEP) Unit. The Field Operations Bureau is under the command of Assistant Chief James Arnold.
Our Uniformed Patrol Division is the largest single division within the department with authorized staffing of 81 Officers, 12 Sergeants, and 3 Lieutenants. They are responsible for responding to calls for service from citizens and visitors within our city 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Our civilian Police Assistants work to assist the uniformed Officers by taking initial reports over the phone and on a walk-in basis.
Seventeen of the aforementioned sworn personnel are assigned full-time to two specialized units within the bureau: the Traffic Unit and the College Station Tourism and Entertainment Policing Unit (CSTEP). The Traffic Unit has authorized staffing of 6 Officers and 1 Sergeant and CSTEP is staffed by 9 officers and 1 Sergeant.
