College Station athletics encourages and promotes healthy families and communities by placing a priority on involvement, teamwork and healthy competition. We offer a wide variety of sports leagues and instructional classes throughout the year for all ages and abilities, from recreational to competitive.

Parents and friends of youth athletes are encouraged to be more than mere spectators, by contributing their time as volunteer coaches.

    FUNDAMENTAL FIELD HOCKEY • CANCELED
    FUNdamental Field Hockey introduces participants to the sport by engaging them in core concepts, game rules, skills, and confidence building. As the six-week program progresses, kids will be challenged with new skills through fun, physical activity. Equipment will be provided. Closed-toed shoes and shin and mouth guards are recommended.

    START SMART FOOTBALL IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD • REGISTRATION ENDS SEPT. 27
    Start Smart Football prepares 3-6-year-olds and their parents for organized football through a step-by-step approach. Caretakers will be provided with age-appropriate equipment and instructional materials to help them teach throwing, catching, kicking, punting, running, and agility. As the program progresses and players show improvement, skills can be altered so each player remains challenged. Participants will receive their equipment and instructional materials as a one-time pick up to be done at home. Staff will contact each participant to schedule curbside pick up at the Stephen C. Beachy Central Park Office.

    HIGH-PERFORMANCE TENNIS ACADEMY • CANCELED
    The academy is for competitive athletes who are playing in high school varsity, ZAT, Champ, and Super Champ tournaments in Texas. It’s designed to enhance the technical, strategic and physical capabilities of each player through live-ball drills, match play, and conditioning. The academy is overseen by a USPTA-certified professional with more than 20 years of experience playing tennis at the qualified USTA junior and NCAA collegiate levels.

    Beginners learn the basics of forehand, backhand, serve, and volley in a fast-paced, interactive manner. The last session includes a game night and a chance to win prizes.

    RECREATIONAL YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE • REGISTRATION ENDS SEPT. 28
    Recreational Youth Football provides players with a fun and exciting opportunity to engage in non-contact, continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork. Each player should accumulate a minimum of two quarters of playing time for each game they attend.

    ADULT PROGRAMS

    The league is offered each spring, summer, and fall with men’s and coed divisions. Nights of play are determined by registered division. Coed teams will consist of at least three females and seven males with a maximum roster of 20. Click here to view a list of rules.

    KICKBALL LEAGUE • CANCELED

    COMPETITIVE DRILL TENNIS • REGISTRATION ENDS SEPT. 27
    Drill tennis is designed for those interested in playing in tournaments or leagues. Each stroke is covered through fun, live-ball drills, and match play. Strategy and on-court tactics are discussed and integrated into each drill.

    BEGINNER TENNIS • REGISTRATION ENDS SEPT. 27
    Players learn basic tennis strokes, scoring, and strategy. Participants also engage in fun games each session to increase their enjoyment of the sport.

    ROUND-ROBIN TENNIS LEAGUE • REGISTRATION ENDS SEPT. 27
    Designed for adult players who are comfortable with match play and are interested in competing in a lively, social setting. Players are guaranteed a doubles set (six-game, no-ad scoring) and single set (six-game, no-ad scoring) each week in a round-robin format, giving competitors a chance to constantly face new opponents.

    INTERMEDIATE TENNIS • REGISTRATION ENDS SEPT. 27

An emphasis is placed on point simulation and strategy with a review of fundamentals for increased consistency.

    COVID-19 RESPONSE
    The Parks & Recreation Department will adhere to federal, state, city, and county guidelines to help avoid exposure and transmission of COVID-19 at events, programs, and facilities. Anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms with a temperature above 99.5 F degrees, or has come in contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19, is prohibited from participating or attending events or programs. Participants must acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that you or your children may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 through participation and that such exposure or infection may result in injury, illness, permanent disability, or death. The risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of yourself or others, including, but not limited to, city employees, volunteers, and program participants and their families.

    COVID-19 REFUND NOTICE
    Due to the evolving and fluid nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, our department will continually evaluate the safety and compliance of our programs. As federal, state and local mandates adapt, our programs may be affected. Once a program has started, no refund will be given since many of our expenses are in the initial planning and implementation stages. Every effort will be made to complete the program.
