NOTICE OF ADOPTED 2016 TAX RATE
City of College Station ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE.
THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 11.63 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON AT $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $17.71.PROPERTY TAXES
The property tax rate as of Oct. 1, 2016 for the City of College Station will be set at 47.2500¢ per $100 of assessed valuation. Property taxes fund the General Fund and are used to make payments on the City’s Debt Service Fund. The breakdown of the tax rate is as follows:

The 47.2500¢ rate reflects the City’s portion of the tax rate and does not include taxes collected for College Station Independent School District or Brazos County. A break out of the tax rate for all taxing entities is as follows from the Brazos County Appraisal District:

Incorporated businesses in Texas are subject to the state franchise tax. Corporations pay either $2.50 per $1,000 in taxable capital, or a 4.5% tax on earned surplus, whichever amount is greater. HOTEL OCCUPANCY TAXES
Chapter 1, General Provisions, Section 11 of the Code of Ordinances authorizes the City of College Station to levy a Hotel Occupancy Tax equal to 7% of the consideration paid by the occupant of any hotel where the cost of occupancy is at the rate of $2.00 or more per day.
