News: Officer John Board Honored for 30 Years of Service

On Wednesday July 9, 2014 Officer John Board of the College Station Police Department was honored for his dedicated service to the citizens of this community as a Patrol Officer for the last 30 years.

Officer Board is the longest tenured sworn officer for the department, having started his career on the streets as a patrol officer on July 1, 1984 and he has served proudly in uniform since that day. Officer Board has served under six different Chiefs of Police, worked on all different shifts (days, evenings, nights, 8 hour, 10 hour, 12 hour) and there are not many people who have worked for our agency over the last three decades that have not had the privilege of serving alongside him. Officer Board has served as a Field Training Officer and during his career he received dozens of letters of commendation for his work regarding various arrests, field investigations, community service, teamwork, and mentoring other employees. Since July 1, 1984 Officer Board has served our citizens through:

• He has responded to over 30,000 calls for service
• He has submitted over 9,600 offense/incident reports
• He has handled over 1,400 traffic crashes
• He has made over 17,000 traffic contacts

The College Station Police Department wishes to express sincere thanks to Officer John Board for his loyal and dedicated service to our community. He has truly left, and continues to leave a mark on everyone he comes into contact with.
