City leaders kick off Salvation Army Christmas collections
Posted Date: 12/5/2012 5:00 PM

College Station Mayor Pro Tem Karl Mooney and Bryan Mayor Jason Bienski will kick off the Salvation Army’s annual Christmas campaign by ringing bells and collecting donations on Saturday from noon-1 p.m. at local Walmart stores.

Mooney will be at the entrance to the College Station Walmart while Bienski will be at the Bryan Walmart. The mayors will encourage shoppers to contribute spare change to help provide food, clothing, shelter, toys, financial assistance and counseling to those in need in the Brazos Valley.

Walmart will match the amount each mayor’s raises up to $1,000, and will contribute an additional $1,000 in the name of the mayor who raises the most money.
