The Texas Department of Transportation’s contractor will begin a double lane closure for westbound traffic on University Drive on Friday to repair pavement and install a storm sewer line.
The lane closure is expected to last for about one week. Traffic delays are expected and motorists are encouraged to seek alternate travel routes.
The lane closure will begin about 1 p.m. just west of the intersection of Nagle Street and University, with the outside lane closed first and the middle lane to follow. One lane of traffic will be allowed between Lodge and Boyett streets.
The crosswalk at the intersection of College Main and University also will be closed and pedestrian traffic will be re-routed to the Ashbury/Tauber or Boyett intersections.
The work is part of the $3.7 million University Drive Pedestrian Safety Project, which is scheduled to be finished by the end of August.
