CSFD remembers 9/11 with climb, Veterans Park ceremony
Posted Date: 9/10/2018 2:00 PM
The College Station Fire Department will commemorate 9/11 on Tuesday with free events at Aspire College Station and the War on Terror Memorial at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex.

The stair climb will be at 8:30 a.m. at the Aspire complex at 711 University Drive. The annual event honors the 343 firefighters who gave their lives in the aftermath of the attack on New York City’s World Trade Center towers on Sept. 11, 2001.

Participants pay tribute by climbing the equivalent of the 110 stories of the twin towers, symbolizing the firefighters’ journey to save others.

CSFD will also take part in the annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the War on Terror Memorial site in the Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial, which displays a steel relic from one of the towers. The ceremony begins at 7:44 a.m., the approximate time the attack began on Sept. 11, 2001.
