CSFD, Domino’s promote safety during Fire Prevention Week

The College Station Fire Department is teaming with the National Fire Protection Association and Domino’s in College Station to promote fire safety during Fire Prevention Week, which starts Sunday and runs through Saturday, Oct. 14. 

From 5-8 p.m. on Oct. 9-11, anyone who orders a Domino’s pizza from one of three College Station locations may be surprised when their pizza arrives aboard a fire engine. If the customer has working home smoke alarms, the pizza is free. If the alarms are not working, firefighters will replace the batteries or install functioning alarms. 

Participating Domino’s are located at 409 University Dr., 1801 Valley View Dr., and 4400 State Hwy. 6 South. Anyone who orders through one of these locations is eligible for the fire engine delivery. 

This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is “Every Second Counts: Plan Two Ways Out.” 

“From the time the smoke alarm sounds, you may have less than two minutes to escape a home fire safely,” College Station Fire Chief Jonathan McMahan said. “That’s why this year’s campaign theme is so important – having an escape plan as well as fully functioning smoke alarms are essential to safely escaping a home fire.” 

Founded in 1896, the National Fire Protection Association has been the official sponsor of Fire Prevention Week since 1922. NFPA is a global, nonprofit organization devoted to eliminating death, injury, property and economic loss due to fire, electrical and related hazards.
