COLLEGE STTATION POLICE DEPARTMENT
Major Crash – 16-001857

On February 17, 2016 at approximately 1242 hrs., College Station Police Officers and Firefighters responded to a major crash in the 1400 block of the Earl Rudder Freeway. Local Constables and the Department of Public Safety also assisted at the scene. The northbound lanes of Earl Rudder were closed for about two hours during the investigation.

The preliminary investigation found that a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by 19 year old Colleen Barber of Houston was south bound in the inside lane of Earl Rudder when she moved to the outside lane and then apparently swerved to avoid unexpected traffic. The left wheels of the truck then left the roadway. The truck rolled approximately three times across the median before coming to a stop in the outside lane of the northbound side of the freeway. The driver was ejected and landed in the northbound lanes.

Ms. Barber was the only occupant of the vehicle and there were no other vehicles involved. She was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan with incapacitating injuries.
