Major Accident 16-001438

On 2/8/16 at about 11:20 am, College Station Police and Fire Departments responded to the Spring Creek Town Homes at 4300 Spring Creek in reference to a vehicle that had just crashed through a fence and gone into a swimming pool.

The 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 69 year old Thomas Smith of College Station jumped a curb, crashed over a row of shrubbery and through a six foot metal fence before coming to a stop in four feet of water in the neighborhood pool.

A local resident spotted the vehicle in the pool and assisted the driver to safety. Smith was transported to Scott and White Hospital for observation but did not appear to be suffering from any injuries at the time. Smith advised he lost control of the truck after being struck by loose grocery items in the cab. The exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
