Aggravated Assault

02/08/16 – News Release: Aggravated Assault

On 02/08/16 at approximately 0110 hours, CSPD officers responded to the 1200 block of Georgia in reference to a person reporting that he had been run over by a vehicle. Multiple officers responded to the scene. They were unable to locate the suspect.

After a thorough investigation, officers determined that a suspect known to the victim had struck him intentionally with a vehicle. The victim and the suspect have been in a dating relationship. When the victim attempted to report that the suspect was harassing him, she used her personal vehicle to try to run him over.

The victim sustained non-incapacitating injuries from striking the pavement. He was treated at the scene by EMS and refused transport to a local hospital. The suspect has been identified. There is no indication of danger to the public at this time.

Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (PC 22.02) occurs if a person then and there intentionally or knowingly threatens another with imminent bodily injury, and did then and there uses or exhibits a deadly weapon, during the commission of said assault. This is a Second Degree Felony punishable by between 2 and 20 years in prison and/or a fine not to exceed $10,000.
