College Station residents interested in running for city council are invited to a free information session on Tuesday, June 27 at 6 p.m. at city hall. This program is designed to help potential candidates better understand the requirements, duties and limitations of office. Attendees will also learn about the city’s organization, form of government, role of city staff and critical issues. Candidate information packets will also be available. Place 1, 3, and 5 are up for election in November. Filing period is July 22-Aug. 21.


Candidates must be at least 18 years old, U.S. citizens, qualified Texas voters, and College Station residents for at least one year prior to Election Day.  Candidate information packets are available at the City Secretary’s Office at College Station City Hall.

July 24-Aug. 24 - Filing Period
Aug. 24 - Last day to file to fill a vacancy
Aug. 25 - Drawing for candidate order on ballot and last day to file as a write-in candidate
Aug. 28 - Last for a candidate to withdraw
Sept. 23 - First day to mail early ballots, if available
Oct. 10 - Last day to register to vote
Oct. 20 - Last day to accept applications in person for voting by mail ballot
Oct. 23 - First day of early voting
Oct. 27 - Last day to receive application by mail for voting by mail ballot
Nov. 3 - Last day of early voting
Nov. 7 - Election Day, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Nov. 15-21 - Period for official canvass of election
