The Recreation Division, in conjunction with the Special Facilities Division, is responsible for providing support for all recreation program functions within the Department. The Recreation Division is composed of five cost centers:
I. Athletic Tournaments and Special Activities: Provides support and direction for Athletic events and tournaments hosted by the City and outside user groups that attract out of town visitors to the community, which increases prosperity and economic growth.
II. Sports Leagues: Provides programs to meet the needs and desires of citizens of all ages, interests, and skill levels. These programs are designed to offer participants the experience of lifelong sports opportunities in an environment that is competitive, yet fun.
III. Kids Klub: Utilizes the College Station Independent School District 's (CSISD) facilities to provide after-school care for the citizens of College Station. It provides the opportunity for the participants to experience activities that result in positive, cognitive, physical, social, and emotional youth development.
IV. Special Events: Provides concerts and special events at the Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater and hosts the annual Christmas in the Park Program at Central Park. A variety of other special events are offered to our citizens for enjoyment and to enhance local tourism, promote community pride, and increase business and hotel/motel revenue.
V.Senior Services: Provides continuing education programs, instructional programs, and leisure activities that encourage positive mental, physical, and social development.
Through the various cost centers, the Recreation Division acts as the primary liaison to various outside organizations, which include the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation, the Amateur Softball Association, the College Station Soccer Club, the Aggieland Soccer Club, the Bryan/College Station Soccer Club, and the College Station Little League. Additionally, the Division is responsible for coordinating athletic field usage within the parks system for some of these various groups.
